7th BAR Executive Committee Meeting

Traditionally thought of as waste material in corn production, maize silk (Maydis stigma) is a collection of fine, soft, fiber-like threads from the flower of the corn plant. To maximize all parts of the corn, the Cagayan Valley Research Center (CVRC) of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 2 developed a food product with maize silk as the main ingredient.

Dr. Nicomedes P. Eleazar, DA assistant secretary for special affairs and BAR director, is with Mara Shyn Valdeabella, senior executive assistant to the director, during the 7th BAR Executive Committee Meeting.
