Second Semester AFEN Meeting



To update the members of the Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network (AFEN) on the trends in agriculture and fisheries extension and to provide a venue for discussion of AFEN initiatives, best practices, and accomplishments of member-agencies, the Second Semester AFEN Meeting was conducted on 17-19 October 2018 at the Extension Office, University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan in North Cotabato.

By virtue of Special Order No. 115 series of 2002, AFEN calls for the harmonization of all Department of Agriculture (DA) agencies that are performing extension services. The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), as the AFEN focal agency, ensures continuous inter-agency collaboration and coordination through various undertakings including the conduct of workshops and meetings. These activities are being participated by AFEN focal persons from DA offices, bureaus, attached agencies and corporations.

Present during the meeting were Dr. Luz A. Taposok, OIC-Director of ATI; Dr. Cayetano C. Pomares, vice-president for Research and Development and Extension of USM; Ardniel A. Baladjay, director for extension of USM and AFEN national focal person.

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), as the lead coordinating agency for research and development for agriculture and fisheries, serves as one of the AFEN members. Representing BAR during the meeting were Ms. Ma. Eloisa H. Aquino of the Office of the Director and Mr. Wilson Viloria II of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division. ###
