Gender Sensitivity Training for BAR staff



As part of its efforts to mainstream gender into the agency’s system, the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) for its staff on 14-17 August 2018 in Lumban, Laguna. Incidentally, August 14 marks the 9th anniversary of the Magna Carta of Women since its enactment.

Ms. Maria Daryl L. Leyesa, GAD consultant and women’s rights advocate, served as the resource speaker for the four-day activity. Meanwhile, Ms. Digna L. Sandoval, OIC-assistant director of BAR, attended the training in behalf of BAR Nicomedes P. Eleazar.

The GST training was conducted to capacitate the bureau’s administrative and technical staff with the basic knowledge on gender and development (GAD). Among the topics discussed during the training were: Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression; international and local GAD mandates; gender sensitive research; gender mainstreaming in development planning; etc.

The conduct of this training was spearheaded by the Institutional Development Division. ###
