Review of Climate Change R&D Projects.

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), through its Program Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED), conducted a review of ongoing and completed projects under the Climate Change R&D Program.

Present during the review were project proponents from different state universities and colleges (SUCs) as well as technical staff from the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).

Two ongoing expansion projects conducted by CIAT were first reviewed. These projects aimed to conduct regional-level Climate-Risk Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) and develop a decision-support platform for climate-resilient agri-fisheries (CRA). Another CIAT project reviewed aimed at systematizing outcome evidence for CRA communities, services, and institutions. Five other CRVA projects conducted by SUCs in their own respective regions were also reviewed. The regions represented during the review were CAR, MIMAROPA, Samar, Cebu, ARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, and CARAGA.

BAR funds and coordinates the conduct of CRVA as it is an important component in realizing a decision-support platform in prioritizing technology options and investment planning for climate-resilient agri-fisheries. The results of the SUC-implemented projects reviewed will be used as baseline data for Community-based Participatory Action Research projects within the region. ###

Mr. Leo Kris Palao of CIAT presents the new components of CIAT’s expansion project on regional-level CRVAs.
