Director Nicomedes P. Eleazar of the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) graced the “Inauguration and Turn-Over Ceremony of the Edible Landscaping Project” on 1 December 2017 in Casiguran, Sorsogon.

The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) introduced the edible landscaping (EL) technology in 2010. EL is an innovative approach to creating attractive and functional spaces while producing safe and nutritious food including fruits, herbs, and medicinal plants instead of the usual ornamental plants which are used mainly for its aesthetic value.

Funded under BAR’s National Technology Commercialization Program (NTCP), the project covers the establishment of demo gardens in five different sites in Sorsogon. These include the Dairy Technology Farm in Cabid-an; Bicol University-Gubat Campus; LGU-Barcelona; LGU-Casigura; and Sorsogon National High School. ###
