Regular Publications

The bureau, through its Applied Communications Section, has two in-house publications, BAR Chronicle and BAR Digest. The BAR Chronicle is a monthly newsletter that features the activities of the different units and divisions of the Bureau and provides up-to-date local and international R&D news. The BAR Digest, on the other hand, is a quarterly journal that highlights regular R&D news and is circulated to different R&D networks.

BAR Chronicle

This is the bureau’s official monthly newsletter.  It provides regular updates on BAR’s activities as the national coordinator for agriculture and fisheries R&D and news concerning the NaRDSAF-member institutions. It includes feature articles on the latest technologies/researches funded by BAR or other R&D institutions that have direct and significant impact to the farmers, fisherfolk, and concerned groups.

BAR Digest

Formerly known as BAR Today, this quarterly publication of the Bureau has transformed from just an 8-page, tabloid-size print-out to a new 24-page, magazine-size publication. This newly-packaged Digest contains feature articles on the latest technologies, updates and breakthroughs in agriculture and fisheries R&D. The articles featured here are based on recent research and studies by scientists/researchers from SCUs, DA-staff bureaus and attached agencies and other R&D institutions. Researches are either BAR or non-BAR funded.

R&D Highlights

This is a compilation of abstracts of award-winning agriculture and fisheries R&D researches generated by NaRDSAF-member institutions. This is published yearly and released during the third quarter in time for the National Research Symposium, which is annually facilitated and organized by BAR.

Annual Report

This highlights the accomplishments of the Bureau for the year allowing transparency and advocacy in the whole R&D community.

NRS Proceedings

This is an annually-produced publication of BAR featuring highlights of activities during the National Research Symposium (NRS).

The NRS is an annual event coordinated by the Bureau wherein top scientists and researchers from various state colleges and universities and premier research institutions gather together to present the most promising researches and technologies developed and generated in the year. It also coincides with the celebration of the National R&D Week, which is observed every first week of October as stated in Procalmation No. 382 series of 2000.
