BIARC develops and promotes products from malunggay

The Bicol Integrated Agricultural Research Center (BIARC) is currently producing and packaging different product lines from Moringa oleifera or commonly known in the Philippines as malunggay.


Ingredients use in making malunggay tea, malunggay polvoron, maluggay cookies, and malunggay surprise. Ms. Arlene M. Inocencio , BIARC’s food technologists, demonstrates the process of producing malunggay tea.


Different product lines from malunggay under a project titled, Development of promising value-adding technologies for pili, queen pineapple, and selected vegetables as banner commodities of Bicol. Through funding support from BAR, the center was able to conduct trials and promotional activities on the developed technologies.
 
BAR Director NIcomedes P. Eleazar looks into the malunggay products processed at the BIARC Food Laboratory. He was joined with DA-RTD RFU V Edgar Madrid, BIARC Manager Elena B. delos Santos, Ms. Inocencio, and ACD Assistant Head Julia A. Lapitan.
