DA Usec. Jesus Emmanuel M. Paras delivers the keynote speech in behalf of Sec. Arthur C. Yap. In his speech, he highlighted the 15-year Rubber Development Program initiated by DA to expand the current area planted to rubber totaling 92,000 hectares to one million hectares, and increase production and exports to $960 million by 2020. For 2008, DA is aiming to produce 425,000 tons of rubber, up by 5 percent from last year’s output, as the country strives to meet the growing demand of the tire and footwear industries.
