| The Cebu Association of Meat and Poultry Products Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) hosted the 17th Hog Convention and Trade Exhibits, which is an annual activity organized by the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc. (NFHFI). The confab carries the theme, “Enhancing Pork Production for Pork Market.” |

| NFHFI President Albert R.T. Lim gives his opening remarks. In his speech, he stressed that “In the past, everyone has been taking backyard farming for granted, but with the tightening supply of pork in the market, the role of backyard hog raisers in alleviating the situation has been highlighted.” |

| Hon. Emiko M. Purdy, agricultural counselor of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said that the Philippines, in terms of livestock export industry, has great potential. |

| “With regard to today’s issue on rice production, food sufficiency is not a problem if the efforts of all local government units (LGUs), private sectors, and other institutions are unified,” Atty. Jesus Emmanuel M. Paras, Department of Agriculture (DA) undersecretary for Field Operations and Fisheries, Livestock and Regulation said in his keynote address. |

| As exhibitor, BAR displayed the various in-house publications, books, and journals from its partner-agencies through its Special Publication Grant (SPG). Management Information Systems Division (MISD) Assistant Head Julia A. Lapitan takes the lead in the information drive and in the welcoming of inquiries from the booth visitors and participants. |
