5 October 2017
World Trade Center, Pasay, Manila

As part of its initiative to streamline the Technology Business Incubation (TBI), the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), in collaboration with InangLupa Movement, Inc., conducted the "Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Business Incubation Seminar" on 5 October 2017 at BAR, Diliman, Quezon City.

Experts from ICRISAT and Seed Science Center, Ames, Iowa were invited to share their knowledge and expertise on the topic. Dr. Kiran Kumar Sharma, CEO, Agribusiness and Innovation Platform from ICRISAT, India; and Dr. Dileepkumar Guntuku, Global Program Leader from the Seed Science Center, Iowa State University.

TBI, which was successfully implemented by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) based in India, provides a network of support in terms of resources, services and facilities to technology-based businesses. It is a strategy implemented to enhance the National Technology Commercialization Program (NTCP), a banner program of BAR.

With the increasing number of funded researches under NTCP, TBI can help ensure that mature technologies are efficiently commercialized, thus, promoting innovations to modernize and make agricultural ventures profitable. BAR has been coordinating with various research institutions in the country for the implementation of TBI. ###

The basic premise of TBI is promoting agribusiness ventures through technology development and commercialization that will benefit farmers, and facilitating business among entrepreneurs and technology developers.
