Meeting on Beekeeping R&D Projects.


 

Lanao del Norte 2nd District Representative Abdullah Dimaporo met with BAR Director Nicomedes Eleazar and Don Mariano Marcos State University-National Apiculture Research, Training and Development Institute Director Pablo Masiong to discuss beekeeping projects, particularly on the conduct of a trainors’ training on the rearing of bee species, Apis mellifera, as part of the proposed livelihood program in the province.

Also discussed was the inclusion of other possible agri-fisheries related projects under the Provincial Agricultural Development Plan wherein Director Eleazar suggested the submission of R&D proposals under the bureau’s two banner programs, the Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) and the National Technology Commercialization Program (NTCP), taking into consideration the champion commodities of the province for the initial projects.

Representative Dimaporo expressed his gratitude for the assistance given by BAR and said that BAR should continue with its efforts, especially that its programs have been benefitting the farming and fishing communities. ###

The meeting aimed to discuss updates on the proposed livelihood program in the province involving beekeeping projects. This was initially discussed in a separate meeting on 8 March 2017 at BAR.
