Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR)

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) conducted a progress review of two on-going Mindanao State University- Naawan fisheries projects on 31 July 2017 at BAR.

A review and assessment of fisheries projects on broodstock development of pigek (a highly priced fish in southern Philippines) and fishery potential of Glossogobius giuris (pijanga, local name in Mindanao) in Lake Mainit were evaluated by Dr. Nelson Lopez of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR); Dr. Ma. Lourdes Aralar of the Southeast Asian and Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC); and Mr. Len Garces of the USAID Oceans and Fisheries Partnership based in Bangkok, Thailand.

The activity aimed to present updates and accomplishments of fisheries R&D projects, and to discuss and address project implementation and management concerns. Coordinated by BAR’s Program Monitoring and Evaluation Division, the activity was attended by project implementers, members of the Fisheries Technical Working Group, and BAR’s pool of experts.###
