Inauguration of Region 2 Organic Agriculture R&D Center

The newly-established Organic Agriculture Research (OA) and Development (R&D) Center of the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 2 was officially inaugurated on 15 May 2018 at the Nueva Vizcaya Experiment Station (NVES) in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya.

The OA R&D Center was established as a one-stop-shop research center to enhance, develop, and promote package of technologies on organic agriculture practices thereby ensuring a sustainable food and safe environment in the region.

Leading the ceremonies were BAR Director Nicomedes P. Eleazar and DA-RFO 2 Regional Executive Director Lorenzo M. Caranguian. Joining them were: Mr. Isidro Acosta, regional farmer director; Engr. Blesita Tega, office-in-charge NVES manager; Ms. Lovelyn Gaspar, CVRC research division chief; Ms. Digna Sandoval, BAR-IDD head; Ms. Rose Mary Aquino, DA-RFO 2 regional technical director; Ms. Marina Acebedo, focal person of the Regional Organic Agriculture Program; and Ms. Celerina Miranda, NVES manager.

The OA R&D Center was funded by BAR, through its Institutional Development Division, under the National Organic Program wherein the bureau serves as the national focal agency for research and developement. ###
