Geographic Suitability and Investment Potential of Mango in the Philippines (08/30/04)

One of the many applications of GIS in agriculture is crop suitability mapping based on the biological requirements of the crop and the quality and characteristics of the land. The mango industry, given its potential export value, is considered as one of the "sunshine industries of the future". The final map overlay shows that a total of 3.5 million hectares in the Philippines is highly suitable for mango and an additional area of 5.9 million hectares can be shifted to mango production. For more information you can download Geographic Suitability and Investment Potential of Mango in the Philippines (6MB PDF) from our website.
