A night of pure fun & pleasure
by Jonnaliz Marquina (OJ Trainee)
June 1999

On the eve of the IDP workshop (April 20), a cocktail party at the pool sloe of Lagos del Sol Caliraya was held for the participants and guests of the workshop. The party served as a welcoming medium and even as an icebreaker for the three-day activity.

The majority of the participants and guests arrived in the late afternoon of the same day. While some chose to rest in their designated rooms, others took the opportunity to enjoy and explore the exotic scenery of the place. After dinner, everybody headed to the poolside for the opening ceremony of the workshop.

While waiting for the DA Acting Secretary William Dar, they socialized and mingled with other guests and participants. After learning that Dar could not make it to the opening program, the participants continued to make the best of the evening with more enjoyable activities.

BAR-ITD consultant Sebastian O. Sebastian acted as the disc jockey of the night. Some guests sang with the videoke provided at the bar. Later, every region was requested to have a representative who would also sing for everyone. "Portrait of my Love" was the song of the night having been sung three consecutive times by different representatives of the regions. The BAR star singers were Cenon S. Atienza, the chief of the Information Communication Division of BAR, Sebastian O. Sebastian, and Julia Lapitan, also from BAR.

BAR Director Eliseo R. Ponce led a team-building activity that made the night livelier. Everybody was asked to hold the waist of the person in front and dance around the pool. Some even exchanged partners while others did ballroom dancing.

As the night grew older, the activities became more exciting and fun but Dr. Ponce had to cut it short because everyone needed rest in preparation for the next day's activities.
