FIAC to initiate R&D project for corn and legumes farmers

To improve planting practices for corn and peanut production, the Farmer Industry Advisory Committee will pilot a project comparing the level of productivity and efficiency of monoculture corn and peanut production and integrated corn and peanut production system.

Dr. Manuel Avanceña, the partner private sector, will provide the necessary initial farm inputs and operations and handle the marketing. Technical assistance will be sourced from the Corn and Legumes RDE Networks.

Dr. Artemio Salazar, National Team Leader of the Corn RDE Network, heads the team who will visit the project site in Claveria, Misamis Oriental for the rapid appraisal of the project and firm the project design. Dr. Resty David of the Regional Programs Division is a member of this team.
