DA units identify top five R&D commodities


In recent planning workshop sponsored by the Bureau of Agricultural Research (last) 1-2 February 2000, the diferent DA Regional Field Units idntified their top 5 R&D commodities. These were disclosed by the Regional Integrated Agricultural Research Center (RIARC) Managers and the research Directors and Chiefs of the DA's attached agencies and staff bureaus.

Based on the identified list, RIARC Managers and R&D Chiefs were required to identify strategies to answer pressing problems of their regional commodities at the same time provide enough funds to start R&D implementation by the next cropping season. The commodities identified will be implemented in close partnership with their regional state universities and coleges counterpart.

In doing this, they were advised that their plans and programs should conform with the BAR initiated approach of "one system - one program" to avoid duplication of R&D programs, misallocation of funds, and consolidate efforts in program implementation of R&D programs both at the national and regional levels.
