BAR integrates DA R&D action plans

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) initiated the preparation of the Department of Agriuclture's R&D units' action plans for CY 2000. This was done during the DA R&D Action Planning and Reorientation Workshop held last 1-2 February 2000 at the JICA Training Hall, ATI Building, Diliman, Quezon City.

The participants included the DA Regional Integrated Agricultural Research Center Managers, DA Attached Agencies and Staff Bureaus Research Directors/ Chiefs, Regional Planning Officers, and Budget Officers.

During the activity, the participants were required to prepare and validate their agency R&D work and financial plans for CY 2000 based on the goals and priority areas of the Estrada administration. The different agencies' plans and programs include human resource development and infrastructure development. Also, insitutional support funds for knowledge management and administrative support services were earmarked.

Finally, it was agreed that all agency plans should cohere with the national integrated R&D agenda and programs prepared by the different RDE Networks both at the national and regional levels. Moreover, these should adress the concerns of farming and fishing communities' needs and satisfy the Department's program towards agriculture and fisheries modernization.
