20th DA-BAR National Research Symposium

Theme: "Mula Sakahan Patungong Hapag-kainan: Bringing the Benefits of Agricultural R&D Closer to the People "

Diliman, Quezon City

The National Research Symposium is hosted annually by the Bureau of Agricultural Research to promote R&D excellence and to give due recognition to the accomplishments of agriculture and fisheries researchers for their notable achievements. The symposium also aims to identify and disseminate new technologies and knowledge useful to agriculture and fisheries modernization.

General Requirements

1. Filipino researchers/scientists from a NaRDSAF-member institution may submit entries for any of the categories in Section B. For the "Development Category," only researchers/scientists from DA units may submit.
2. Topics of the papers must be within the symposium's overall theme and must be aligned with the goals and objectives of the Department of Agriculture (DA), namely:
   1. Food security
   2. Poverty alleviation and social equity
   3. Improved productivity and increased income
   4. Resource sustainability
   5. Global competitiveness
3. Entry papers must include research results conducted in the Philippines within the last five years and are completed as of June 30, 2008.
4. Papers already presented in any national or international scientific congress or competitions are disqualified.
5. Papers already published in any journal are disqualified.
6. Graduate theses/dissertations or any part of it, is also disqualified.
7. All submitted papers must be properly endorsed by the head of agency/office of the researchers.

Awards
Three winners will be selected for each category. Cash prize will be given to the authors of the winning papers.

Notification of Results
Authors of selected papers will be notified by 15 September 2008.

Submission of Entries
Submit fully accomplished NRS entry form together with the manuscript, five (5) hard copies and a digital copy on a recordable CD (digital copy of the paper may also be sent electronically) , preferably encoded in Microsoft Word and/or Excel (for tables and/or charts) or Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (pdf). Both versions of the paper (digital and hard copies) should be identical.

1st National Conference on Community Development

Theme: "Teorya at Praktika ng CD: Diwa, Buhay, Paglilingkod"

22-24 October 2008
UP-CSWCD, Quezon City, Philippines

This event hopes to gather in a spirit of dialogue around 300 CD practitioners, activists, educators, academics, students and advocates from NGOs, peoples’ organizations, public and private universities and colleges, government agencies, development agencies and corporate foundations in the Philippines and selected countries in Asia, North America and Europe.

The Conference Program Committee invites presentations in various formats: paper, posters, panel discussions, videos and other forms of multi-media presentations. Please submit 250-word abstract on or before March 31, 2008. For panel discussions, please submit abstract for the panel and the individual presentations(max. of three presentations per panel). Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be on April 30, 2008. Full papers will have to be submitted on Sept. 30, 2008.
