Agriculture and Fishery Policy Research Unit (AFPRU)
Functions
- Implements/coordinates with researchers/scientists of leading state universities and colleges (SUCs) and other concerned institutions in the conduct of research impact assessments and policy research pertaining to agriculture and fisheries;
- Collects and processes primary/secondary data and information, monitors and evaluates the country’s agriculture/fisheries situation including; market issues, and provides recommendations on the development of comprehensive strategies addressing emerging problems and concerns;
- Formulates policy recommendations on scientific innovations and technology use to help promote the goals of the Department of Agriculture;
- Provides management data, information and knowledge as decision-support in strengthening research impact on agriculture and fisheries development;
- Reviews, identifies, and analyzes problems/weaknesses of relevant national policies and presents recommendations on how to take advantage of opportunities;
- Serves as Secretariat to the Council on Extension, Research and Development in Agriculture and Fisheries (CERDAF) and to the Research and Development Management Committee (RDMC).
