Director’s Welcome Message
 The Philippines is now part of the global village. We live in a high-tech world that dictates the sharing of ideas with other people from all over the world without physically going to these places. There are no more boundaries in communicating as we are not bounded by territories nor are we limited by resources.
In this age of information, the battle is not about who has the resources but who has the access to more information. It is what we know that makes the difference. It is the information that we have that gives us access to bring about effective change to our communities and to the society. Information system is a vital tool in modernizing our agriculture and fisheries sectors. We, at BAR, have a social obligation to provide and deliver services to our fellow Filipinos and help transform the lives of our farmers and fisherfolk. Part of this obligation is to provide correct and accurate information on agriculture and fishery research and development (R&D). Through the Bureau of Agricultural Research’s Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Program, the need to bring in and promote advances in agricultural research is addressed. It is based on this premise that we bring to you the BAR Online. This website aims to reach out to as many clienteles as possible. Regardless of the boundaries and territories, BAR will reach and bring information to you, with just the click of the mouse. It is our hope that this website be an instrument to help support research and technological advances that would contribute to our economy.
